Northbrook Financial Planner Receives CFP

Patrick L. Doland, CFP™, a principal of Northbrook-based Successful Financial Solutions, Inc., has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to use the CFP certification mark and the marks CFP and Certified Financial Planner in accordance with CFP Board certification and license renewal requirements.

These marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed a certification examination covering the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. CFP licensees must also agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold the CFP Board Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

The CFP Board is a nonprofit professional regulatory organization established in 1985 to benefit and protect the public by maintaining and enforcing high standards of ethical professional conduct among Certified Financial Planner licensees. An independent certifying body, the CFP Board owns the CFP certification mark and the marks CFP and Certified Financial Planner, the most widely recognized marks in the financial planning profession.  More than 31,000 financial planners are presently licensed to use these marks.

Doland, a fifteen-year Northbrook resident, received a bachelor of arts degree from Upper Iowa University and master’s in management from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a former board member of the United Way/Crusade of Mercy serving the metropolitan Chicago area and the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin.
