Education:

Patrick L. Doland received his BA from Upper Iowa University and his MBA in 1988 from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University. He also graduated in 1981 from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Pat is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, a Chartered Wealth Manager, and a Certified Cash Manager.

Experience:

Pat has over twenty years experience in banking which included serving as senior vice president of a large suburban Chicago bank. In 1998 he became a principal of the fee-only financial planning firm, Successful Financial Solutions, Inc. in Northbrook. In 2003 he started Reason Financial Advisors, Inc. Although Pat is a licensed insurance producer, he does not sell insurance or receive commissions from any investment or insurance products.

For four years Pat produced and hosted the Comcast cable access show Financial Solutions that aired in 225,000 households in the northern Chicago suburbs. He has been a speaker at national and regional conferences and has written articles for such publications as Crain’s Chicago Business and Midwestern Financial Planner. He has also served as an informational source and been quoted in publications including BuinessWeek Online, the Chicago Tribune, Dow Jones Investment Advisor, Bloomberg Wealth Manger, the Journal of Financial Planning, and Financial Planning magazine.

Professional and Civic Memberships:

Pat is a member of the National Association for Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and serves on the board of the North Shore Council of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois (FPA-IL). He is also a member of the Greater North Shore Estate and Financial Planning Council (GNSE&FPC) and served as president of the North Shore Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP).

Civic involvement has also been important part of his life. He is active in Rotary and is a former club president. He is the former president of the Northbrook Civic Foundation and has also served on various boards including a downstate bank, the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin, the United Way of Suburban Chicago and the United Way Crusade of Mercy serving the metropolitan Chicago area.
